Curtis W. Lewis, 75, of Beaufort, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by family.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Ann Street United Methodist Church with Rev. David Wade officiating. Interment will follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
Curtis was born in Morehead City and raised in Stacy. He attended school in Atlantic and Morehead City, and graduated from Morehead City High School "class of 1958". He attended two years of college at Louisburg College. He married Barbara Jean Fulcher on June 6, 1959.
He worked as a photographer and illustrator for National Marine Fisheries and NOAA, under the US Chamber of Commerce for 43 years, and finally retired in 2007. Curtis was a Freemason, attained 32nd degree Scottish Rite, and a shriner.
He is survived by wife of 55 years Barbara Fulcher Lewis of Beaufort; two daughters Kimberly Jean Lewis Bare and husband William of Beaufort, and Karen Joy Lewis of Beaufort; son Curtis Wayne Lewis, Jr. of Beaufort; grandchildren Kristin Joy Spann Creech of Beaufort, and Madison Paige Lewis of Beaufort and Morehead City; great grandchildren Taylor Creech and Logan Creech both of Beaufort; a maternal aunt Edna Gaskill of Stacy; six cousins; three brother in-laws; and three sister in-laws; four nephews; two nieces; many other relatives; and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Curtis and Velma Lewis.
Visitation will be 1:30-3:00 pm Sunday at the Eure Building, across the street from the church.
