Col. Gilbert L. Jacox, US Army (Ret), 81, of Morehead City, died Monday, March 14, 2011 at Carteret General Hospital.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Grady Simpson officiating.
Col. Jacox joined the Army in 1947, was commissioned in 1952, and retired in 1973. He earned his law degree from The George Washington University in 1967. He practiced law for 12 years in Coldwater, MI, and retired to Morehead City in 1985 to be near his wife’s family.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Bonnie W. Jacox; son, Gilbert L. Jacox, Jr. of Sherwood, MI; three sisters, Mary Lou Kolassa of Sturgis, MI, Peg Kruger of Rosarita, Mexico, and Ada Jacox of Heathsville, VA; two brothers, George L. Jacox of Baltimore, MD, and Edwin H. Jacox of Kalamazoo, MI; sister-in-law, Irene King and husband, Arnold of Beulaville, NC; and two brother-in-laws, Quinton Williams and wife, Ann, and Rodney Williams and wife, Phyllis, all of Newport.
The family will receive friends 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday at Munden Funeral Home.
