Clyde Edsel Moorefield, 90, of Morehead City, NC passed from this earth on Monday, January 4, 2016 at Carteret Health Care.

The presentation of military honors will be held 6:00 pm on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Munden Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm at Munden Funeral Home.

He was born on March 12, 1925, in Belew Creek, Forsyth County, NC.  Clyde honorably served his country in World War II as a High Speed Radio Officer in the Bismarck Archipelago, New Guinea, the South Philippines, Luzon, and Ryukyu Islands.  During his service, he was awarded the Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Medal with five bronze service stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two stars, and the Good Conduct Medal.  After his service, he became a Manufacturer’s Representative and absolutely loved his work.  Clyde loved fishing, traveling, was an avid reader, loved Tuesday and Friday night poker with his friends, playing bridge with his wife Helen, and Patsy Cline’s music.  He was a hard-working family man who was the biggest “baby hog” the family has ever known.

He is survived by his daughter Patricia Dianne Moorefield, son-in-law Julius Levy Lilly, Jr. his granddaughters Sierra Dawn Moorefield and Amy Michelle Drellack, his great-grandson Austin Kyle Drellack, and his brother Lawrence Edward Moorefield and wife Helen.  He is preceded in death by his beloved bride of fifty-three years Helen Carlene Cates Moorefield, his sons Clyde David Moorefield and Myron Busser, his father Lemuel Elmer Moorefield, his mother Sara Ellen Murphy Moorefield, his brothers James Wesley Moorefield and wife Melissa, Charles Earl Moorefield and wife Hilda, Henry Henderson Moorefield and wife Norma, Morris Moorefield, and Hurbert Moorefield, and sisters Margaret Estelle Hutcherson, Sara Ann Maners, and Virginia Moorefield.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association.
