Cloye Howard

Cloye Howard, 86, of Newport, passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021, at Pruitt Health - Sea Level.

A private graveside service will take place at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville officiated by Rev. Robbie Strickland.

Cloye was born on February 10, 1935, to the late Willie and Emma Johnson. She was born in Georgia but grew up in Jasper, Florida. After she graduated from high school, she moved to Carteret County where she waitressed at the Riptide Restaurant in Swansboro.

Cloye enjoyed living on the coast, in her young years she spent many pleasurable days fishing. Gardening was another outdoor activity she enjoyed and was always happy to see the fruit of her labor. She loved her family and delighted in being able to make meals and goodies for them. When able, she attended Broad Creek Church of God.

She is survived by her son, Johnny C. Howard III and wife Debbie King of Newport; grandchildren, Jan Trull and husband Michael of Oklahoma and Johnny Howard IV and wife Hope of Newport; great-grandchildren, Rhiannon Howard, Alison Trull and Ashley Trull.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie C. Howard Jr.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Broad Creek Church of God, 394 Broad Creek Loop Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
