Clinton "Fish" Delma Littleton

September 3, 1932 — March 8, 2018

Clinton “Fish” Delma Littleton, 85, of Newport, died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Carteret Health Care, with his love, Polly, by his side.

His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Reverend Gina Barrow. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Clinton was born at Sandy Bottom, Lenoir County, North Carolina in 1932 to the late James Monroe and Olive Littleton. Clinton joined the Army in 1948. After he returned to New Bern, North Carolina he remained in the National Guard Army and worked with State Bridge Force. He was called for active duty. Clinton met the love of his life, Polly Hartgrove, while stationed at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. They married one year later and were shipped to Germany. After 2 ½ years they returned to the States and settled in Tennessee and he enrolled at Knoxville Airline School.  He went to work for Delta Airlines in Indianapolis, Indiana and later transferred back to Knoxville, Tennessee in the shadow of the Great Smoky Mountains. After 10 years he was transferred to Kansas City, Missouri.  In 1980, due to an illness, he was given 3 years to live by the doctors in Missouri, so he retired, with Polly, and they moved back to Beaufort, North Carolina. He was proud of his family and he enjoyed telling you how proud he was of them. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, storytelling of local folk lore, meeting new friends, his church family and family gatherings.

Clinton is survived by his wife of 66 years, Polly Hartgrove Littleton, of the home; son, Clinton Delma, Jr. and wife, Kristi Littleton of Sugar Creek, Missouri; daughters, Del Ann Dubinsky and husband, Jeffery, of Ravenna, Ohio, Quinith Ann Littleton of Forney, Texas; grandchildren, Jeffery, Christy, Amanda, Matthew, Kati; and great-grandchild, Lincoln, Brooklyn and Conrad.
