Clif Ackert

Clif Ackert, 71, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

The services are pending and will be held at a later date.

Clif was born on June 14, 1952, in Greenville, North Carolina, to the late Vernon and Virgil Ackert. He grew up in Havelock and graduated from Havelock High School in 1971. After High School, he embarked on a four-year journey with the Army Reserves, demonstrating his commitment to service. Clif had a passion for craftmanship which was evident when he started working with his uncle at the young age of 13 at Jackson’s Upholstery in Havelock. This laid the groundwork for his long-lasting career of over 55 years at City Upholstery where he specialized in boats, cars, and airplanes.

Clif was an avid NASCAR enthusiast, enjoying the excitement of the races. He relished spending time with his friends and making lasting memories or relaxing while reading a good book. May his memory be a blessing to all whose lives he touched.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sister, Becky Ackert of Morehead City, NC; nieces, Elizabeth Ackert of Beaufort, NC, Brooke Ackert of Durham, NC; nephew, Chris Outlaw of Wilson, NC; great-nephews, Daniel Ackert of Newport, NC, Taylor Hargett of Morehead City, NC, Tevin Hargett of Morehead City, NC, Emerson Outlaw of Wilson, NC; great-niece, Tieara Hargett of Jacksonville, NC; great-great-nephew, King Alston of Jacksonville, NC; and great-great-niece, Zaia Bullock of Jacksonville, NC.

In addition to his parents, Clif was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Ackert Williams; and brother, William Vernon Ackert.
