Claudia Holland, 87, of New Bern, North Carolina, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, September 8, 2023, surrounded by the love of her family.
Claudia was born on June 26, 1936, in Spokane Washington, to the late Charles Packeritz and Ada Alexander. Claudia's life revolved around family. She shared a remarkable 64-and-a-half-year journey with the love of her life, Howard. Together, they built a strong foundation of love, resilience, and commitment that will forever serve as a beacon of inspiration to those around them.
Claudia was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority of Havelock, North Carolina, and was also involved with the Havelock Senior Citizens. She loved to travel with her family and go camping, Claudia was always into a good book where she could get lost in the theme and reading magazines. She always cherished her children and grandchildren and spending time with them. Claudia loved to be always on the go, it was hard keeping up with her.
Since her husband’s death in 2021, she spent a lot of time with her children, Cheri and David until Cheri’s death in 2022. She was an Ovarian Cancer Survivor and through all her medical treatments she always seemed to have a smile on her face. She loved life, family, and friends.
One of the greatest joys in Claudia's life was being a mother and grandmother. She showered them with affection, constantly reminding them of their limitless potential and offering guidance throughout their lives. Her warmth and compassion radiated in all her interactions, leaving lasting imprints on the hearts of those she encountered.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her son, David Holland of Newport; son-in-law, David M. Parker III; sister-in-law, Carol Kohlenberg and husband Henry of Glendale, AZ; brothers-in-law, Bob Holland, John Holland, Fred Holland, all of Illinois, Jim Holland of Nevada, and Steve Holland of Arizona; and grandsons, Tyler Parker and Austin Parker.
In addition to her parents, Claudia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Howard Holland who passed away in December of 2021, and her daughter Cheryl Holland Parker in July of 2022.
