Clarus “Gordon” Russell Campbell, 95, of Bogue, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.
A graveside service to honor her life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, December 8th at the Bethlehem Methodist Church Cemetery in Bogue.
Gordon, as she was affectionately known by her family and friends, was born on May 7, 1928, in Newport, North Carolina, to the late Piram and Drusilla Russell. She lived a life dedicated to love, laughter, and connection. As a homemaker, Gordon took great pride in creating a warm and nurturing environment for her family. Her attention to detail and impeccable housekeeping skills made her home a haven of comfort and hospitality. Gordon enjoyed spending time outdoors, tending to her beloved yard. She poured her heart into nurturing her garden, creating a vibrant and beautiful landscape.
Above all, Gordon possessed a rare gift - the ability to make anyone feel like family. Her outgoing and friendly demeanor meant that she never met a stranger. She thrived on social interactions and had a natural talent for making everyone around her feel valued and loved.
Gordon shared an extraordinary bond with her late husband, Lawrence D. Campbell, whom she lovingly accompanied on a journey of 50 beautiful years before his passing in 2002. Their love and support for each other were an inspiration to all who knew them.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are numerous loving nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Gordon was preceded in death by her son, Steve Campbell; sisters, Wilma R. Guthrie, Geraldine Guthrie, Irene Guthrie, Essie Meadows, Louise Guthrie, Rebecca Gallego, Elma Thompson, and Lottie Reaves; and brothers, Buddy Russell, Charlie Russell, and P.M. Russell.
