Clarice Mae Willis

Clarice Mae Willis, 77, of Smyrna, passed away Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Her funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Tommy Willcockson and Rev. Ken Turner. A private interment will follow at the family cemetery.

Clarice was born in Smyrna where she lived her entire life. She graduated in 1959 from Smyrna High School and continued the long-lasting friendships she made there.  In her youth she waitressed at the Sanitary Restaurant and later went on to be the librarian for the Book Mobile as well as being a founding member of the Down East Library. Another interest for her was the Core Sound Museum where she volunteered. Clarice retired from the United States Postal Service after being the postmaster there for 28 years. She loved the Lord and was happy to be a life-long member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Bobby Willis, of the home; sons, Bobby Wayne Willis and wife, Penny, of Smyrna, William Jeremy Willis and wife, Janine, of Gastonia; sister, Jeanette Grace Morris and husband, Alfred, of Smyrna; grandson, Christopher Ryne Willis; many loving nieces and nephews; and special nieces and caregivers, Yvonne Morris and Sherrie Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Doris Willis and brother, Willie Guy Willis.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
