Christopher “Chris” Warren Harrison, Sr., 94, of Havelock, passed away on January 12, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern, NC.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Croatan Presbyterian Church in New Bern. Entombment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens in Havelock.
Chris was a member of the Croatan Presbyterian Church. We all know about December 7, 1941. Chris joined the Navy shorty after at age 17 ½. One year later at the age of 18 ½ he was flying combat missions as a B-24 pilot. He was shot down three times. He flew 76 combat missions. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross four times (given for individual heroism in aerial combat). He participated in all the Pacific battles. He worked with Owen G. Dunn Printing in New Bern, and after moving to Asheville, he worked for National Climatic Center. He was an avid golfer at Carolina Pines at the age of 89 he shot his age in golf. He had a fierce love and loyalty to his family. In recent years he took great pride in the arrival of his great grandchildren.
Chris is survived by his loving wife Glenda “Patti” Harrison; daughter: Carleen Harrison Clewis and husband Bill of Charlotte; son: Chris Harrison, Jr. and wife Rachel of Rydale, GA; sisters: Elsie Walsh of New Bern, Sybil Lennox of Flint, MI.; grandchildren: Christi Dudney and husband Kevin, Matthew Clewis and wife Pattie; great grandchildren: Brooke Dudney, Everett Clewis.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Snodie Lee and Dannie Harrison; wife: Josephine Page Harrison; brothers: Snodie Lee Harrison, James Harrison, Bill Harrison, Melvin Harrison, Preston Harrison and Herman Harrison; granddaughter: Christy Lain Harrison.
The family would like to thank Sandy (aka - adopted daughter) and Ernie Marquez and George and Karla Liner for their love and devotion to Chris.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m.- 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 at Croatan Presbyterian Church in New Bern.
