Chiyoko Marcheso

Chiyoko Marcheso, 90, formerly of Havelock, NC, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at her home in Newport, NC.

A graveside service to honor Chiyoko’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, May 7th at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC, with Mike Reed presiding.

Chiyoko was born on December 9, 1934, in Nishinomiya, Japan. She was a devoted member of the Soka Gakkai International USA Buddhist Community, where she found fellowship and support.

A talented seamstress, Chiyoko had a passion for sewing and created many beautiful clothing pieces that reflected her creativity and craftsmanship. In addition to her love for fashion, she found great joy in working in her garden.

Chiyoko is survived by her longtime friend, Josephine Daniel of Newport, NC, and her cuddly friends, her dog, Chico and cat, Tora.

In addition to her parents, Chiyoko was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Gerald E. Marcheso who passed away in 2011.
