Chester Milton Meares, Jr.

Chester Milton Meares, Jr., 85, of Newport, passed away, October 28, 2013 at Crystal Coast Hospice House.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Wednesday at St. James United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Supplee officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jewell Meares of the home; daughter, Emily McLaurin and husband Tim of Newport; son, Preston Keith Meares and wife Jane Taylor of Newport; three grandchildren, Brianna McLaurin of Wilmington, April McLaurin and Logan McLaurin both of Newport; and sister, Lura Elizabeth Livingston of Newport.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Memorial Fund at St. James United Methodist Church, PO Box 250, Newport, NC 28570.
