Charlotte Wright Willis

Charlotte Wright Willis, 91, of Davis, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at her home.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 18th at Davis First Baptist. She will be laid to rest privately at Oscar Davis Cemetery.

Charlotte was born on December 21, 1931, in Portsmouth, Virginia, to the late Charles Calvert Wright and Ester Alexander Wright. She found great joy and fulfillment in her involvement with her church, Davis First Baptist, where she was an active member of the women's group. With a pure love for the Word of God, Charlotte deepened her faith by reading the Bible, which provided wisdom and guidance for her life.

More than anything, Charlotte cherished her role as a mother and embraced the joys of being a grandmother and great-grandmother.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her children, Annette Mitchum and husband William Lanier Mitchum Sr. of Davis and Ronald Glenn Willis and wife Erma Willis of Davis; sister, Marilyn Earl Wright Hargrove of Matthews, VA; 8 grandchildren, Susan Ann Willis, Daniel Glenn Willis, Michael Jay Archer, James Nathan Willis, Victoria Dannette West Ackers, Mellisa Anne West Byrd, William Lanier Mitchum Jr. and Samantha Marie Mitchum Campbell; and 7 great-grandchildren, Bentley Jace Willis, Alexander James Willis, Bodhi Glenn Willis, Sydney Marie Campbell, Lane William Campbell, Annesley Stuart Byrd, and Riley Weston Byrd.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, Alger Glenn Willis Jr. and sister, Eleanor Bruce Wright Cooper.
