Charlie Austin Adams, 77, of Bogue, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Charlie’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 8th at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Cedar Point, officiated by Pastor Jeremy Wakefield. Interment will follow at Taylor Family Cemetery in Bogue. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Charlie was born on September 10, 1946, in New Bern, North Carolina, to the late Austin Adams and Irene Adams Sanders. He shared a special bond with his beloved mother throughout his life.
A loving son, brother, father, uncle, and grandfather, Charlie was cherished by those who knew him. He was a faithful member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, where he enjoyed his church family. Those who knew Charlie recognized his passion for music, he was constantly listening to tunes that put a smile on his face.
Charlie's love for working on engines was truly unparalleled, particularly when he was alongside his closest friend, Cleveland Ballard. Whether tinkering with cars, trucks, or motorcycles, they tackled each challenge with determination. Charlie loved motorcycles and enjoyed nothing more than a good long ride and the thrill of the open road.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sister, Shirley Adams of Bogue; daughter, Angela Goff-Boaz of Stella, NC; son, Bobby Goff and wife Amy of St. Marys, GA; stepbrother, Leland Sanders and wife Kathy of Bogue and their children, Brandon and Aaron; grandchildren, Anna Boaz, Caden Goff, Madi Goff, and Evan Goff; and special friend, Peggy Briley.
Charlie’s extended family included his best friend, whom he considered a brother, Cleveland Ballard and wife Kim. Their son, who was also a son to him, Caleb and his wife April. As well as their children, James and Julia, who were grandchildren to Charlie.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his stepfathers, Leslie Sanders and Clyde Jones; and infant baby sister, Jean Carolyn.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 120 Bell St, Cedar Point, NC 28584.
