Charles R. "Bobby" Webb

Charles R. “Bobby” Webb, 89, Newport, passed away Monday, March 18, 2019, at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City, NC.

Bobby was born to Clyde Robert and Alice Woodhull Webb in Swansboro, NC on June 10, 1929. Bobby was a remarkable carpenter, hunter, fisherman, boat and boat model builder and shared many of those models with his treasured family and friends.

He was retired from the Naval Hospital, Camp Lejeune, NC where he was employed in the facilities department for almost 20 years. During his employment he received numerous awards to include an Outstanding Performance Award on September 15, 1970, in addition to a front-page segment in the local Spotlight newspaper for his achievements as a one-armed successful builder.  Many were astonished at his talents!

Bobby married Carolyn Nixon of Broad Creek on July 5, 1958, and many times joked that he did not marry her on the 4th of July because he "needed one more day of independence!" yet they spent almost 61 years together. He was known to have a dry and witty sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Carolyn Webb; sons, Robbie Webb and his wife Jodie, Andre Webb and wife Elizabeth; daughter, Sonya Carpenter and husband Scott; brothers, Horace Webb and Frederick Lewis; ten grandchildren; three great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Bobby's wishes were to have only a private family celebration of his life in his home which will be held between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, 2019. The family respectfully asks for privacy during this time. Afterwards, we kindly welcome any and all friends to visit as we extend his love to each of you.
