Charles "Kenny" Kenneth Matthews, 53, of Morehead City, died Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Parkview Baptist Church with Rev. Powell Osteen, Rev. Joseph Franklin, and Rev. David Mills officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Kenny and his wife Kelly owned and operated A1 Yellow Cab, it was a good family business. He loved sports. He excelled in wrestling in High School and graduated with a three year record of 59 wins, 11 losses, and 3 ties. He was Conference Champion for three consecutive years 77, 78, and 79, West Carteret Invitation Champion in 78, Southeastern Sectional Champion in 79, and Bull Durham Invitational Champion in 78 for a total of 6 titles. He loved surfing and boating.
The love of Kenny's life was his wife and best friend Kelly Webb Matthews. He loved his family and friends. He was a fun loving and a prankster, it has been said that "he touched many peoples lives over the years".
He is survived by his wife Kelly Webb Matthews of the home; daughter Jennifer Marie Matthews of Newport; a son Charles Kenneth Matthews, Jr. of Newport; two grandchildren Gabriella and Violet; mother and father Judy and Charles Matthews of Morehead City; brother Randy Scott Matthews of Morehead City; and mother and father in-law Tommy and Grace Webb of Morehead City.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home.
