Charles "Harris" Hunter

Charles Harris Hunter, 87, of Newport, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 am Thursday at Chapel By The Sea with Rev. Clay Olsen and Rev. Robert Kornegay officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Hunter served in the U.S. Navy, retired as a pharmacist with Rite-Aide in Mount Airy. He was a faithful member of Chapel By The Sea.
He is survived by his children, David Hunter of Newport, Peggy Fernandez and husband Michael of Nash, Charles Hunter and wife Eun Ju of King, and Stephen Hunter and wife Sandra of Destin, FL; three grandchildren, Aaron Fernandez and wife Lisa, Ben Fernandez, and Brooke Fernandez; and three gretgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Hunter, and parents, Charles and Elizabeth Hunter.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
