Celus "CG" Whitehead

Celus “CG” Whitehead, 95, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, September 15­, 2018, at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center in Goldsboro.

His memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Reverend John Carswell.

CG was born, raised, and lived the majority of his life in Morehead City. In his early years, he honorably served in the United States Merchant Marines during World War II. His dedication and work ethic were evident during his 30 plus years of working in the Maintenance Department at Carteret Community College. CG was a gifted tradesman with very skilled hands. He enjoyed building miniature boats and trains from scratch, as well as playing golf and doing puzzles. He also enjoyed his membership with the Morehead City Elks Lodge. CG was a very quiet and gentle man that will be missed.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Marjorie “Marge” Whitehead, of the home; daughter, Deana Lynn Whitehead and husband, Dave Carpenter, of Gray’s Lake, IL, and their 3 sons, Nathaniel Carpenter of Hawaii, Scott Carpenter of London, England and Drew Carpenter and wife, Kayleigh, of Redmond, WA; step-sons, George Lee Lowd, Jr. of Miami, FL, Wayne Hugh Lowd and wife, Sally, of Deltona, FL, Allen Richard Lowd of Morehead City; sister, Charlotte Mirabella of Morehead City; 3 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and his Yorkie and little girl, “Kilo”.

He was preceded in death by his infant son, parents, and 6 siblings.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home.
