Catherine Hicks Angell

Catherine Hicks Angell, 85, of Morehead City passed peacefully on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Carteret Health Care.

Her funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. There will be a private graveside service at Greenleaf Memorial Park in New Bern.

Catherine was 85 and lived a full, rich life knowing Jesus at age 16. She was baptized in Mechums River near Charlottesville, VA.

Catherine lived in Havelock for 42 years prior to moving to Harborview Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Morehead City in 2010. Catherine enjoyed a career in cosmetics including being the supervisor of Cosmetics Department at the Cherry Point Exchange from 1968-1978. She also worked in cosmetics at the Belk Department Store in Morehead City in the 1980’s. She started her next career as a private duty CNA caring for many people until she retired in 1998.

Catherine loved to travel. Catherine and her daughter visited St Thomas, VI one summer which has brought many happy memories through the years. She loved visiting her son and his wife in many locations across the country. Her children were her world.

Catherine is the beloved mother of daughter Vicki Angell-Capps and husband, Daniel Capps of Morehead City, and son John Albert Angell, Jr. and wife, Katherine Angell of Cocoa, FL. She had seven grand-dogs, Chloe and Mason still living.

She was born in Yancey Mills, VA near Charlottesville to Micajah Aubrey Hicks and Margaret Smith Hicks. She had a younger brother Micajah Aubrey Hicks, Jr. They all preceded her in death.

Family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 2, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.

Thanks to all of Catherine’s caregivers at Harborview Health and Rehabilitation and Carteret Health Care who have seen her through four recent stays.
