Carrie (Gillikin) Wade

August 16, 1925 — June 28, 2013

Carrie Gillikin Johnson Wade, 87, of Morehead City, went to be with her Lord on Friday, June 28, 2013.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at North River United Methodist Church with Rev. Rosa Bottari officiating. Inurnment will follow at North River United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was born in Otway on August 16, 1925 to the late Curtis Gillikin and Myrtle Day Gillikin. The love of her life were her children and later in life, her Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Judith J. Day and husband Ben of Beaufort, Earl Merkley Johnson II and wife Linda of Newport, Charles Curtis Johnson and wife Shirley of Clifton, VA, and Carolyn Jean Johnson of Morehead City; seven grandchildren, Benjamin G. Day, Jr. and wife Jennifer, Pamela Lee Johnson, Christopher Merkley Johnson, Angela Johnson Lawrence and husband Greg, Rebecca Johnson and husband Colin Ray, Rachael Michelle Johnson and Daniel Curtis Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Bonnie E. Belle Keen and husband David, Jaclyn M. Day Oglesby and husband Levi, Kiera Johnson, Sydney Lawrence, Nathaniel Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, and Kaylee Johnson; two great-great-grandchildren, Eric Allen Tiedemann III and Gabriella Brooke Oglesby; her siblings, Curtis Gillikin, Jr. and wife Rose Marie of Otway, Charles L. Gillikin and wife Marie of Morehead City, Esther Gillikin of Morehead City and Hilda Gillikin and husband Rodney of Williamsburg, VA; also numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Harold Elliott, Earl Merkley Johnson, Robert Charles Sadler and Douglas Gordon Wade; infant son, Hervie Elliott; two granddaughters, Carrie Lee Day Ross and Susan Elizabeth Day; and five siblings, Geneva G. Lawrence, Otis Gillikin, Elbert Gillikin, Herman Gillikin and Hervie Gillikin.

The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at Munden Funeral Home.
