Carolyn Ruth Willis Jubb

October 4, 1952 — January 26, 2025

Morehead City

Carolyn Ruth Willis Jubb, 72, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on January 26, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, February 2nd at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Carolyn Ruth was born on October 4, 1952, to the late Estelle Willis and Jefferson Harrison. She was born in Morehead City, specifically The Promise Land, where she remained her entire life. She worked as a geriatric nurse and if you saw her in action, you’d know that it was her calling, she was kind and gentle to people when they needed it the most.

Later in life she married her prince, a true Englishman from across the pond. She and Martin would find themselves travelling through Europe or sitting on the porch swing in the Promise Land. She was a lot to many people - daughter, Mama, Gramma, sissy, aunt, cousin, neighbor, and friend.

A true lover of animals, if you walked by her house in recent years, you’d probably hear her calling her squirrels “Come on babies! Come get your peanuts”, with her dog Fred and grand-dog Bucky by her side. She loved elephants, often joking she’d let one live in the house if she were able.

She was a poet and a writer and a romantic. She loved archaeology, Star Wars, and superheroes (Han Solo and Thor specifically).

Carolyn loved sappy love songs and The Beatles and swore she’d marry Paul McCartney for a very long time. She was hilarious and brilliant, brave, kind, and wonderfully stubborn. Her smile made the world brighter.

She was a nurturer and protector to so many. Most of all she loved, fiercely and with all her heart. This made her so loved in return. She brought out the best in us and will be desperately missed. The world is darker without her in it, but she would want us all to “buck up” and smile and tell us that it’ll all be okay.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jennifer Christy Smith of Morehead City, NC; son, Thomas E. Vidak Jr. of Newport, NC; sister, Patricia Luther of Axle, TX; brothers, Jackie Willis (Nancy) of Stella, NC, Gene Willis of Morehead City, NC, Richard Willis (Mary) of Grantsboro, NC; grandchildren, Hannah Grace Ruiz, Emma Faith Fonte; nieces, Cindy, Melissa, Lisa, Tammy, Tracy, Patricia; and nephews, Jeffrey, Wayne, and Richard.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Richard Jubb; brother, Jerry Willis; and nephew, “Little” Gene.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Carteret County Humane Society, 853 Hibbs Road, Newport, NC 28570.
