Carolyn Smith Reynolds, 80, of Jacksonville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 1, 2024, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A memorial service to honor Carolyn's life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 10th at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Robbie Strickland. She will be laid to rest privately at the Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery. Following the service, the family invites you to join them for lunch in the Fellowship Hall of Broad Creek Church of God.
Carolyn was born on July 3, 1944, in Seven Springs, NC, to the late Tommie and Alice Smith. She spent her formative years in Kinston eventually settling in Carteret County in 1990. A woman of faith, Carolyn found strength and joy as a member of Broad Creek Church of God.
Carolyn was best known for her work as a cashier at the Atlantic Beach Food Lion where she worked faithfully for 21 years. Her warm smile and welcoming nature endeared her to all who crossed her path.
During moments of relaxation, Carolyn enjoyed browsing Facebook, catching up on all the local news, and connecting with friends and family.
Affectionately known as "Granny" among family and friends, Carolyn's absence will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Bobbie Lynn Sather and husband Stacy of Jacksonville, NC; sons, Robert Elijah Reynolds III and wife Rebecca Ritch of Arkansas and Harold Brooks Reynolds and wife Betty of Newport, NC; grandchildren, Jimmy, Heather, Skye, Tyler, McCauley, Jade, Kali, Christopher, Andrew, and Samantha; 9 great-grandchildren; and her sidekick, her cat, Ricky.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Elijah Reynolds Jr. in 2011; and her siblings, Jean Padgett, Edgar Isaiah Smith, Tommy Ray Smith, and Christine Pruitt.
