Carolyn Riddle Patterson, 77, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
A graveside service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, February 28th at Gethsemane Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Grady Simpson.
Carolyn was born on December 26, 1947, in Brevard, NC, to the late Frank and Eula Riddle. A devoted member of Community Baptist Church, Carolyn's faith was a cornerstone of her life.
Throughout her career as a certified nurse’s assistant, Carolyn made a significant impact on the countless lives she cared for. Her patience, kindness, and expertise were qualities that endeared her to patients and colleagues alike.
In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed being outside, spending time in her garden and always appreciating the harvest it produced.
Carolyn will be lovingly remembered as a dedicated wife, a wonderful mother, and a proud grandmother to her 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Her life was marked by love and dedication to her family, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tana Patterson Reynolds (Robert) of Morehead City; sons, Michael Patterson, Mark Patterson and James Daniel Patterson (Lorraine), all of Newport; sisters, Roberta Compton (Gary) of Brevard and Linda Meadows (Leon) of Beaufort, SC; brothers, Carl Riddle of Brevard and William Riddle of Newport; grandchildren, Charlie (Andrea), Matthew (Valerie), Brittany, Aniston (Garet), Braden, Brittany (Ashton), Robbie (Kiley), Jacob (Taylor), Claudia (Jonathan), and Wyatt; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Andrew, Aria, Adam, Sophia, Jackson, Aurora, Cece, Cali, Collins, Nash, Jace, Cole, Waylon, and Wrenley; and her faithful friend, her dog, Bug.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Monroe Patterson; and sister and brother-in-law, Edith and Roger Sheehan.
