Carolyn Ann Mills

Carolyn Ann Mills, 86, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 13, 2023, at her home.

She will be laid to rest privately at Amariah Garner Cemetery in Newport.

Carolyn was born on November 17, 1936, in Somerset, Kentucky, to the late Robert and Elizabeth Sims. After moving to the coast, she had a fulfilling 21-year career in Civil Service at Cherry Point where she worked as a Supply Technician.

Carolyn enjoyed doing crafts and creating special keepsakes. She had a good eye for antiques and happily filled her home with various treasures she found over the years.
She rarely missed watching a NASCAR race or rooting for her favorite team, UNC Tarheels. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving mother, stepmother, and grandmother.

She is survived by her stepdaughter, Loraine Jude Maddox and husband Heath of Newport; brother, L.D. Sims of Atlanta, GA; step-grandchildren, Hayden A. Maddox and Morgan E. Maddox; and her furry companion, her cat, Harley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 2019, Jimmie A. Mills and her son in 2021, Wayne Linkes.
