Carolyn Abrantes Lasater

Carolyn Abrantes Lasater, 73, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

A funeral service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 12^th at Munden Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 11^th at Munden Funeral Home.

Carolyn was born on August 22, 1950, in Fall River, Massachusetts. She spent the majority of her childhood on the beautiful island of Guam, later moving to Raleigh, NC, for her high school years. At the young age of 17, she met Hilly, and the two wed shortly after, on June 24, 1968. Hilly and Carolyn, who frequently visited the coast and loved Carteret County for its outdoor recreation, chose to plant roots and relocated their family permanently in 1979.

A beloved homemaker, Carolyn devoted her life to nurturing her family. She embodied the essence of home, radiating love and providing unwavering strength to her children. Her days were dedicated to fostering a warm and compassionate environment where her children flourished. As a cherished wife, mother, and grandmother, her love knew no limits. Her commitment to her husband, Hilly, spanning 55 years, epitomized the depth of their bond. Carolyn took immense pride in her roles, ensuring she was present for every event, big or small, as each held significance in her eyes. She found joy in literature, embraced an active lifestyle, and cherished supporting her children and grandchildren in their pursuits, whether close to home or far away. Her unconditional love and unwavering dedication remained a consistent source of support for her family. Carolyn's compassionate nature and nurturing spirit left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her."

Those remaining to treasure her memory are her loving husband, Hilly Lee Lasater (55years); sons, Derick Lasater (Donna) of Havelock, and Robby Lasater (Jewel) of Morehead City; daughter, Michelle Lasater Denson of Rockingham; grandchildren, Kristen L. Roberts (Tyler) of St. Augustine, FL, Ryan L. Farrington (Garrett) of Maitland, FL, Ally Lasater of Havelock, Matthew Lasater of Charlotte, Jordin Lasater of Morehead City, Gage Lasater of Morehead City, Jentry Denson of Rockingham, and Harper Denson of Rockingham; great-grandchild, Miles Roberts of St. Augustine, FL; and sister, Karen Kosanke (Bob) of Supply.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Emily Abrantes King, and sister, Donna McLawhorn.
