Carolyn Sumner Carter, 70, of Morehead city, died Monday March 5, at home, surrounded by family.
The family will hold a funeral at Shepherd of the Sea Lutheran Church on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 11:00 am.
Born and reared in Burlington, Carolyn was a graduate of Williams High School. A devoted sister, wife, stepmother, and friend, Carolyn will be remembered for her caring spirit and love of life. Along with her husband, Danny, she owned and operated the Causeway Pier in Beaufort for more than 30 years, making many friends along the way. Her artistic talents were put to work at Peppertree Resort for the past 10 years, where she worked as an activity director.
Carolyn is survived by two stepdaughters, Crystal Carter and Amber Pitts, both of Kernersville; two sisters Glenda Riggs and husband Ralph of Morehead City, and Janice Mann and husband Cecil of Hinesville, GA; a granddaughter, Carleigh Carroa of Winston; four nieces; and three nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Claude and Ruth Sumner; and her husband of 20 years Danny Lee Carter.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Munden Funeral Home.
