Carol Becker Murdoch

Carol Kay Becker Murdoch, 80, of Broad Creek, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018, after a lengthy illness.

Her service is at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Wildwood Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Robbie Phillips officiating.  Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Carol was born September 10, 1937, in Union Township, NJ, to the late Elmer and Katherine Becker.  Carol was a multifaceted woman who loved to read, garden, and was an avid bridge player.  She was best known by her grandchildren for her “world famous” brownies.  All birthdays and holidays were special to her.  She loved to celebrate in “big style” with birthday parties and fabulous holiday dinners. She attended Wildwood Presbyterian Church.  In her early years she worked for Bell Telephone in New York City before being transferred to Tucson, AZ, where she met and married Albert “Buddy” Murdoch on July 20, 1968.  After Albert’s retirement from the Air Force in 1975, they moved back home to Carteret County.  Here she worked in real estate and sold Avon.  She and Albert were the owners of A & C Builders.

Carol is survived by her daughters, Cindy Murdoch Stokely and husband, Robert, of Wilson; Donella Murdoch Patterson and husband, Dale, of Lavalette, WV; sons, Steve Murdoch and companion, Sherard Lewis, of Broad Creek and Scott Murdoch of Salty Shores; grandchildren, Dale Patterson, Jr. and wife, Megan, of Kings Bay, GA, Robert Stokely, Jr. and companion, Ellie Bradford, of Greensboro, Christina Patterson of Lavalette, WV, Katie Stokely of Edinburgh, TX, and Hunter Stokely of Wilson; great-grandchildren, Hannah and Eli; niece and nephew, Lynette Scherer and Gregory Scherer; and her beloved dogs, Lady and Scooter.

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Murdoch; parents Elmer and Katherine Becker; and sister, Nancy Becker.

The family will receive guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations made to the Wildwood Presbyterian Church, 276 Wildwood Road, Newport, NC.
