Carl Michael Lewis

Carl Michael Lewis, 73, of Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 17^th at Refuge Fellowship Church on Harkers Island, officiated by Pastor Manley Rose Jr. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Carl was born on January 6, 1950, in Beaufort, North Carolina, to the late Carl and Lula Lewis. Carl proudly joined the Merchant Marines. He spent many years working at the Maola Milk Company. Carl had a ritual of going out for breakfast the third of every month. You would always find him with a cup of milk in his hand and if he was lucky a plate of biscuits to go with it. Carl always had at least 2 gallons of milk on hand.

Playing the slots added an extra spark to his days and the thrill of the spin. Carl loved nothing more than going fishing, especially in his favorite spot off of 32^nd Street in Morehead. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and will be missed dearly by his friends and family.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughters, Donna Carlene Hunt (Timothy) of Newport, and Elizabeth McGraw of Morehead City; son, Donald Lee Lewis of Morehead City; sisters, Gloria Gray Ellis of Newport, Ann Culpepper of Beaufort, Agnes Mae Lewis of Morehead City and Amy Wilder of Trenton ; grandchildren, Juanita Kala Lewis, Samuel and Matthew Hunt, Sage Lewis, Marianna McGraw, Jacob McGraw, Jonathan McGraw, Devin Adams; great-grandchildren, Aiden See and Laurianna Lewis; step-children, Lora Brown and Michael Dean Hendrickson; nieces and nephews, Emily and Mike Lewis, Jeanie Buchanan, Carla Ellis, Elizabeth Payne; and many more nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne Lewis; and sister, Mary Etta Mendelson.
