Carl Edward “Ed” Dombrofski, 84, of Morehead City, NC, entered into his heavenly home on January 22, 2024. Ed was born in Hackensack, New Jersey on July 10, 1939, to the late Gaynell (Fenimore) and Carl Ferdinand Dombrofski.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lois Eileen (Clark) and daughter-in-law, Anne (Costello) Dombrofski. He is survived by his three children, Dana Elisabeth (Ken) Brackney of Boone, NC and their children, Clark and Bryan Brackney, Mark Edward (Elena Sada) Dombrofski of West Hartford, CT and their children, Sean and Claire Dombrofski and Stephania and Francis Dilion, and Kara Elise (Chris) Hammond of Berkeley, CA and their daughter, Lillian Hammond.
He is married to the love of his life, Donna Lou (Lovely) Standley of the home, with whom he had a Boston Terrier named Katie. Ed enjoyed Donna’s four adult children and their spouses, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Ed served in the Navy, as a Tactical Coordinator and Navigator. An alumnus of Rutgers University, Ed earned a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Business. His education laid the foundation for a successful 25-year career in agribusiness in the Midwest and reinventing himself as a systems engineer in the quickly changing field of information technology.
Ed found a wonderful community when he moved to the Crystal Coast and he found a spiritual home in the Episcopal Church. Known for his love of the outdoors, birding and being on the water, Ed was always interested in learning something new. As a child, he spent formative summers at Camp Brookwoods on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire where he learned many outdoor skills and made lifelong friends.
