Carita Ann Lewis

Carita Ann “Guthrie” Lewis, 79, of Harkers Island, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2016 at home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter - Day Saints, Harkers Island.  Interment will follow at the Red Hill Cemetery.

Carita was a lifetime member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter - Day Saints.  She considered her family to be her treasures on earth and rejoiced in the fact that “Families are Forever”.  Her time with family was her favorite and most important gift.  She also enjoyed visiting and being with her Seaside friends.  Carita was an accountant for 15 years with the Harkers Island Electric Membership Corporation.

She was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. She loved being in the church choir and the Young Girls Chorus. She shared her talents with the community by singing at weddings, funerals, and other special events.  However, her most favorite audience was her two daughters as she taught them important life lessons through song.

Carita is survived by her two daughters, April Lilley and husband Cecil and Jodonna Parker and husband John of Harkers Island; sister, Rose Griffin of Harkers Island; three granddaughters, Ryan Lilley Carlston and husband Brian of Harkers Island, Logan Lilley of Wilmington and Tyler Parker Harkers Island; and great grandchildren, Sarah and Emily Carlston.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Garrison “Buck” Lewis; parents, John and Naomi Guthrie; brother, Freddie Brian Guthrie of Sunset Beach, SC; two half brothers, John Allen Guthrie, Jr. and Elwood Guthrie; and granddaughter, McKenzi Lilley.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ Latter - Day Saints.
