Capt. Donnie Ray Russell

Capt. Donnie Ray Russell, 71, of Beaufort, went to be with our Lord, Sunday, August 23, 2015 at Crystal Coast Hospice House while surrounded by his family and loved ones.
A memorial service will be held 11:30 am Saturday, August 29, 2015 at Refuge Fellowship Church in Harkers Island with Pastor Manley B. Rose, Jr. officiating.
Donnie was born and raised on Harkers Island, NC. He was a charter boat captain for many years and an avid fisherman, with his ultimate fishing partners, Jimmy and Chris Russell. He served in the Army National Guard.
He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 39 years, Deborah Wesley Russell of the home; and their children, two sons, Jimmy Russell, and Chris Russell and wife Dawn; and daughter, Nina Gaskill and husband David; daughter, Susan Garner Alvarado;son, Joe Garner; sisters, June Kay Macfadden and husband Glen, and Ina Willis; brothers, George Thomas and wife Janet, and Charles Thomas and wife Debra; also numerous grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnnie and Nina Russell; sisters, Katherine Thomas, and Iris Coats; and brother, Jack Russell, Sr..
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
