Captain Robert "Bobby" Ballou

Captain Robert “Bobby” Ballou, 84, of Morehead City, passed away Tuesday, July 2­, 2019, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Morehead City.

Bobby graduated from the Morehead City High School in 1953 and married the love of his life in 1955. He spent almost his whole life on the water and was known by many as the “captain”. He combined his love for his wife and his love for boats, by having a boat built in her honor named, “Lady Faye”. Bobby was mechanically inclined and used that gift as often as possible. In his retirement years, he invested his time and energy being focused on his grandchildren who loved him dearly. Bobby was a devoted believer that read his Bible multiple times from cover to cover. He will be remembered for his love of animals but most importantly for his loyalty to his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Faye Ballou of the home; daughter, Candace Ballou Roche and husband Robert of Morehead City; son, Robert “Bobby” Ballou, Jr. of Morehead City and Brandon Morton Ballou of Morehead City; sister, Jane Liske of Raleigh and Deanna Bartholomew and husband Fred of Princeton; grandchildren, Morgan Keli McMahan, Robert Ethan Ballou and Zackary Brandon Ballou; great-grandchildren, Madisyn Lynne Peden and Quinn Nichole McMahan; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Carrol Ballou and Weltha Ballou; daughter, Kathryn Gail Williams; sister, Carolyn Mann; brothers, William David Ballou and E.C. Ballou; and granddaughter, Lauren Nichole Kraszeski.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2019, at First Baptist Church of Morehead City.
