Captain James "Jim" Walter Zook

Capt. James “Jim” Walter Zook, 85, of Atlantic Beach, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at Crystal Bluff Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018 at with the Rev. Stephen Bath officiating at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Capt. Jim was born in Nassau County, NY. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a Charter Boat Captain as well as an Instructor for helping others obtain the Captains License. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Capt. Jim is survived by his sons, Daniel James Zook of Morehead City and Pete Zook and wife, Annamarie, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Peter John Zook, II and wife, Kristen, Heather Bridgers Ainsworth and husband, James, Daniel James Zook, II, Mathew Parker Zook and wife, Brigitte; great-grandchildren, Isabella Faith Zook, Paisley Dawn Zook, Delaney Ann Ainsworth, and Colin James Ainsworth; step-grandchildren, Rebekah Wadsworth and husband, Howell, and son, Finley Gray Wadsworth, Ashley Fulcher and husband, Don, and daughter, Carley Morgan Fulcher and son, Tilman Matthew Fulcher.

He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Diane Zook; daughter, Debbie Bridgers; and his parents, Raymond and Jane Zook.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home.
