Canio Michael Codella, Jr., of Emerald Isle, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019, at Carteret Health Care.
His Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church in Swansboro, officiated by Father Donald Baribeau.
Canio proudly served in the United States Army in the 9th Infantry Division. His valor in combat, during the Vietnam War, earned him the Silver Star Medal. He was honored to be a life-time member of the VFW Post 9960 in Cedar Point, NC. As a devout man, he was a member of St. Mildred Parrish in Swansboro, NC where he attended for over 30 years. He was known by many in our community through his business, Canio Codella Builder LLC in Emerald Isle. Canio will be remembered as a Cameron Crazy for being an avid fan of the Duke Blue Devils.
He is survived by his wife, Belinda Meeks-Codella of the home; son, Canio Michael Codella, III and wife Katy of Fuquay-Varina, NC; sister, Rosemary Brickman of Charlotte, NC, Maureen Willgrubs and husband Philip of Hager City, WI and Mary Clare Joyce and husband Steve of Mt. Airy, NC; brothers, Tony Codella and partner Alice Casey of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Paul Codella and partner Cora Lee Hunter of Cape May Court House, NJ and Ahron Codella and wife Rivkah Cinnamon-Codella of Oxnard Shores, CA; grandchildren, Canio Michael Codella, IV, Maier Codella, Cash Codella and Grant Codella; father and mother-in-law, Harley and Phyllis Meeks of Emerald Isle; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Canio Michael Codella, Sr. and Mary Adelman Codella.
Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at St. Mildred’s Catholic Church in Swansboro.
