Caldonia "Cad" Styron Gaskill, 88, of Cedar Island, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 22, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.
A funeral service to honor Cad’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 26th at Cedar Island Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Nelson Koonce. Interment will follow at Cedar Island Community Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, April 25th at Cedar Island Methodist Church.
Cad was born on November 13, 1935, on Cedar Island, NC, to the late Samuel and Naomi Styron. She was known for her unwavering faith and dedication to the Lord as a longtime member of Cedar Island Methodist Church. Her kind and caring nature touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Married for almost 60 years to her beloved husband, Kenneth, Cad's unwavering commitment to their relationship was seen through the decades. Her world revolved around her family whom she loved dearly and cherished spending time with.
A hardworking woman by nature, Cad approached every task with determination and grace. She was well-known in her waitressing days at the Driftwood Restaurant and Hotel, where she worked for numerous years.
Cad’s love for gardening was evident in the bountiful harvests. She lovingly cooked numerous meals for her loved ones from the wonderful vegetables from her garden. In her free time, she could be found with a book in hand, happily getting lost in a good story.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are her daughter, Anna Brown and husband Kyle of Cedar Island; sons, Howard Gaskill and wife Rosa of Morehead City, and Kenneth "Nim" Gaskill of Cedar Island; sisters, Janet Lee Fulcher of Beaufort and Blonde Goodwin of Cedar Island; brother, Richard Styron and wife JoAnne of Cedar Island; and grandchildren, Laken Kristine Brown, and James Douglas Gaskill.
In addition to her parents, Cad was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Moore Gaskill, who passed away in 2015; son, Thomas Scott Gaskill; siblings, Donald Styron, Benny Styron, Ellen Goodwin, and Winnie Goodwin. and daughter-in-law, Susie Gaskill.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Cedar Island Community Cemetery Fund, 2342 Cedar Island Rd., Cedar Island, NC 28520.
