Bruce Jay Pollock, Sr.

Bruce Jay Pollock, Sr., 68, of Morehead City, received his heavenly body Friday, June 12, 2015 when he passed away peacefully at Carteret General Hospital.

Services will be private.

Bruce served almost 25 years in United States Marine Corps where he retired in 1984 as a Master Gunnery Sergeant. He received many achievements for Hawk Missile programming and his ability to lead people in adverse conditions. After retirement, he followed his passion for the ocean working as a mate on many charter boats, notably on the Mattie G, captained by Leroy Gould on the Morehead City waterfront. He received many citations from the North Carolina State Fisheries for outstanding catches. He was also an avid hunter where he spent many years teaching his son and grandkids to appreciate the outdoors.

Bruce Sr., was a dedicated father and loving grandfather, and is survived by his son, Bruce Jay Pollock II and his wife Victoria Grace Pollock of Trenton; his daughter, Tonya Grant and her husband Kevin Grant of Ohio; along with six grandchildren, Amber Pollock, Ashley Pollock, Justin Grant, Sydney Pollock, Grayden Pollock, and Haley Pollock.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Kenneth Pollock ; and his mother, Virginia Joyce Pollock.

Although he couldn't fish in his later years, he loved the idea of teaching kids how to fish. So in lieu of flowers, please make charitable donations to the Take a Kid Fishing Foundation of Carteret County, PO Box 1191, Morehead City, NC 28557.

He will be dearly missed, and will never be forgotten. We Love You Dad.
