Bruce Edwards Norman, Sr.

Bruce Edwards Norman, Sr., 82, of Salter Path, died Friday, February 9, 2018, at Harborview, Morehead City, after a long battle with diabetes and Parkinson’s Disease.

The family will receive guests from 2:00 to 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City. No service is planned at this time.

He was born August 15, 1935, in the Luken’s community, to Mark and Nellie Norman.  The family relocated to Oriental, where he attended school and graduated from Pamlico High School.  He joined the Coast Guard and served in New Jersey, New Bern and finally at Bogue Inlet.  Bruce left the Coast Guard when he married Adrine Smith and settled in Salter Path.  After briefly working for the North Carolina Division of Marine Fisheries, he had a career in the commercial fishing industry and retired from Homer Smith Seafood, having worked in both Salter Path and Beaufort.

Bruce is survived by his three sons, Bruce, Jr. and wife, Jo Ann, of Emerald Isle, Michael and wife, Jeanine, of Salter Path, and Dale and wife, Norma, of Morehead City; along with his two brothers, Brantley Norman and wife, Sylvia, of Oriental, and Gary Norman and wife, Betty, of New Bern.  He leaves grandchildren, Sonya Willis, Brinkley Willis, Brandy Smith, Josh Salter, Bennett Norman, Adrienne Norman and Kayla Norman, along with great-grandchildren, Chandler Willis, Jamison Willis, Bryson Willis, Chloe Norman, Maddox Ortiz, Skylar McNeil and Haigan McNeil. and great-grandson, Pierce Willis.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Adrine Smith Norman, daughter, Connie Willis, and grandson, Michael “Perry” Norman, Jr.
