Brian L. Burnham

Brian L. Burnham, 72, of Morehead City and formerly of Massachusetts, passed away Friday, May 28, 2021.

Brian L. Burnham was born in Worcester, MA in August 1948, to his mother Virginia Jean (Creighton) Burnham and Charles Edward Burnham (WWII Veteran), both of Hopedale, MA. His maternal grandparents were and Ethel (Pike) Creighton and Eugene Creighton (Veteran of WWI), and his paternal grandparents were Mildred (Nutting) Burnham and Kenneth Burnham (Veteran of WWI) all of Hopedale, MA.

He graduated from Hopedale High School in 1966 where he had been the manager of the basketball team and a trombonist in the marching band. During his high school years, he also played trombone in the Boots Massulli Youth Orchestra. He also performed in the Milford Hospital Ladies auxiliary entertainment production of South Pacific. He studied at Northeastern University. He spent his summers on Martha’s Vineyard.

He entered the US Air force in 1967. He served in several locations including Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska, Loring AFB in Limestone ME, Spangdahlem AFB in Germany and was last stationed in Griffiss AFB in Rome, NY. He married Yvette Ouellette while stationed in Maine and they had a daughter Lisa Jean Burnham in 1974, shortly after leaving the air force.  He later worked for Raytheon Technologies in the Missiles Systems Division for over 30 years, retiring as a Senior Engineer, in 2011.

He loved riding motorcycles (first one a Honda 50CC) from an early age. He always loved electronics and enjoyed skiing. He was very handy and could do or fix just about anything. He was a tireless helper to those who needed his assistance and was always willing to help friends and family.  He always loved listening to different types of music, with special mention to one of his favorite groups The Beach Boys. He loved animals and was a wonderful “daddy” to his many pets who will also miss him.  He also loved traveling with friends and family, and found great joy in his bike riding and the community of friends het met while riding his motorcycle.

He is survived by his loving wife Carol (Sarkisian-Tevekelian)Burnham, and his children:  Lisa (Burnham) Lindsay and her husband Jason Lindsay, Kevork Tevekelian (deceased) and his wife Jennifer, Joshua Tevekelian and his wife Diana, Janeen (Tevekelian) Bazarian, and Alana (Tevekelian) Counts and her husband Roger Counts.  He is also survived by his loving sisters Gail Stevenson and her son Jack Stevenson, Ann Burnham and her husband Steven Silver, and his sister Cathy Burnham.  Brian was also “Gramps” to eleven grandchildren he adored:  Zachary Burnham, Gabe Johnson, Andrew, Derek, and Kyle Tevekelian, Avo and Armen Bazarian, Devin, Greyson (deceased), and Izabella Counts, and Aline Tevekelian.

Contributions in Brian’s memory can be made to the Carteret Community Theater c/o 105 Iris Court, Morehead City, NC 28557 where Brian was the facilities manager and loved being involved in his community.  Services will be held in Massachusetts.
