Bret Tucker McNeill, 52, of Morehead City, passed away Sunday, August 20th.  Bret is the son of the late Gerald Carr McNeill and Frankie Tucker McNeill of Spooner's Creek.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2pm at First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City with the Reverend Timothy J. Havlicek and the Reverend Matthew D. Henderson officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Burial is private.

Bret was a Master Framer and owned and operated The Painted Pelican Fine Art Gallery in Morehead City. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Morehead City for over 40 years where he served as Elder, Deacon, Sunday School teacher, Master Chef and many other things. He attended West Carteret High School and North Carolina State University.

Bret enjoyed camping, hiking, fishing, surfing, cooking pigs with his good friend, Stuart, and telling funny stories--true and untrue.

Bret was an avid N.C. State Wolfpack fan and never missed an opportunity to troll for Tarheel fans whenever State came out on top. As a child, he heard Mr. Pick say "The Wolfpack is mean."  He never forgot it and often used it himself.

Bret loved the Andy Griffith Show, almost to an obsession, and could often be heard quoting Andy. "Live your life like Andy," he said "and it will be a good one."

Bret is survived by his son, Scotland Tucker McNeill; sisters, Sandra Lee McNeill, Morehead City and Candace McNeill Stewart, Beaufort; Brother, Duane Scot McNeill, Carolina Beach; Nephew, John Marshall Stewart, Arlington VA; Many cousins and his beloved Border Collie, The Outlaw "Josey" Wales.

In lieu of flowers, please remember Bret with donations to First Presbyterian Church, Morehead City.
