Brenda Simmons Smith

Brenda Simmons Smith, 81, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away at her home on Thursday, February 6, 2025.

Brenda was born on November 8, 1943, in Carteret County, NC, to the late Dallas and Pearl Simmons. A faithful member of Newport Baptist Church, Brenda's strong faith was a cornerstone of her life.

For over 60 years, Brenda was a hairdresser, where she dedicated herself to making women look and feel their best. She loved her job and even in her golden years, her passion for hairstyling continued, showcasing her unwavering commitment to career.

Brenda was an exceptional cook, known for her delicious fried shrimp, chicken, potato salad, and clam chowder. Her banana pudding, in particular, was legendary among family and friends.

Family meant everything to Brenda. Within her close-knit family, she was a proud and infamous member of the cousins. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, especially her grandson, Easton, who was the apple of her eye. 

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Earl Smith; daughter, Jill Davies (Roger) of Morehead City; son, Benjamin Earl Smith (Karen) of Smithfield; sister-in-law, Ruth Garner (Sherrill) of Newport; brothers-in-law, Lewis Smith (Sharon) of Newport and Phil Kirk Jr. of Raleigh; aunt, Estelle Lewis of Broad Creek; nephew, Jeff Smith of Raleigh; grandson, Easton Ryan Davies of Morehead City; and numerous loving cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her sisters, Florida Simmons Smith and Margaret Kirk; brother, Curtis Simmons; and brother-in-law, Ira Smith.

The family will celebrate Brenda’s life privately.
