Brenda Barnby

Brenda Barnby, 70, of Adams Creek, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.

A funeral service to honor Brenda’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, October 20th  at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City, officiated by Chaplain Rick Brooks. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., Friday, October 20th also at the Funeral Home.

Brenda was born on March 28, 1953, in Minot, North Dakota, to the late Clarence and Elizabeth Grossman. She was raised in the picturesque town of Boulder, Colorado. Brenda later moved to Eastern North Carolina, where she established a long and successful career. For over 40 years, she served as the devoted store manager at the Marine Corps Exchange at Cherry Point. Her unwavering commitment to her work and dedication to the military community were highly regarded and admired by all who knew her.

Brenda had a passion for woodworking crafts and all things artistic. Her creative spirit was a source of inspiration to her friends and family. She turned ordinary pieces of wood into beautiful works of art and embraced the joy of artistic expression in all forms. May Brenda’s creative spirit and the love she shared with the world be a lasting source of inspiration. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Those remaining to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Douglas M. Barnby of the home; devoted daughters, Michelle Williams (Irvin) of Cove City, Lisa Barr of Havelock; sister, Cheryl Grossman of Florida; brother, Bruce Grossman of Henrico, Virginia; grandchildren, Alexandra Owen of Havelock, Erin Elizabeth Wright-Owen of Newport; great-grandchildren, Audrey Elizabeth Herring, August Raelynn Fleming and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her brother, Bryan Grossman.
