Bonnie Mae VanFossen Wright

Bonnie Mae VanFossen Wright, 74, of Swansboro, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Carteret Health Care.

A service will be held at a later date in Staunton, Virginia.

Bonnie was born in Staunton, Virginia, on February 6, 1947, to the late John and Helen Hartsook. Bonnie loved the Lord and lived her life as an example to others. She attended the Salvation Army Church and also managed a Salvation Army Thrift Store where she enjoyed the variety of items and the kind people she encountered. Bonnie enjoyed baking delicious cakes and cookies and sharing her delights with others. She also enjoyed the challenge of a good puzzle, being on the water fishing, and spending time with her family who she greatly cherished.

She is survived by her son, John VanFossen and wife Melissa of Staunton, VA; daughter, Betty Phillips and husband Charlie of Swansboro; sisters, Betty Howdyshell, Hope Fitzgerald and husband Mike, and Patsy Hite and husband Elmer, all of Staunton, VA; brothers, Bobby Hartsook and wife Susan of Ft. White, FL, Lyle Hartsook and wife Judy of Staunton, VA, George Hartsook and wife Pat of Stuart Draft, VA, Jimmy Hartsook and wife Jeanette of Staunton, VA and Henry Hartsook and wife Robin of Staunton, VA; grandchildren, Brandi, Jonathon, Jacob, Michael, Matthew, Felicia, and Ashley; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her little dog, Lucy, who was her beloved furry friend.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first love, Charles VanFossen in 2005; and her second love, Weldon Wright in 2015.
