Bobby Ray Caffin, 77, of Emerald Isle, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Carteret General Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 9:30 am Friday, November 7, 2014 at Emerald Isle Baptist Church with Rev. Freddie Braswell officiating. Interment will follow at 12:00 noon at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Bob was the Chaplain for the Morehead City Police Department, and he also worked for Continuum Hospice of Jacksonville as their bereavement counselor for five years. He retired from the US Navy after 20 years of service. He was a member of Faternal Order of Police and International Conference of Police Chaplains, and volunteered with Crimestoppers, and as a Hospital Chaplain.
He is survived by his wife Barbara Caffin of the home; two sons Joseph Caffin and wife Sanna of Omaha, NE, and Rob Caffin of Atlanta, GA; a step son David Shoe of Emerald Isle; a daughter Cyndi Wilson and husband Rodney of Greensboro, NC; and a step daughter Deborah Martin and husband Scott of Marion, SC; half brothers Neale Caffin of Illinois, Jim Caffin of Massachusetts, and Scott Caffin of Massachusetts; half sister Stephanie Davis of Vermont; nine grandchildren; and the mother of his children Elizabeth Caffin of Greensboro.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Myrtle Caffin.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday at Munden Funeral Home.
