Bobbie S. Mize, 87, of Cape Carteret, went to be with the Lord Sunday night, September 18, 2022. While it is difficult to be without her, we know she is in heaven with her family and Lord.
Her graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 24th, at Gethsemane Memorial Park, with Rev. Patrick Whaley officiating.
Bobbie was born on March 7, 1935, in Anderson County, South Carolina, to the late Richard and Sarah Snipes.
Beginning at a young age, Bobbie invited the Lord into her life and she served Him with gladness ever since. On November 13, 1954, she married her husband, Rev. Jimmie Mize, and together they served in Southern Baptist Churches for over 50 years. Her testimony carried through in all aspects of her life, including her 28-year career working with the Department of Social Services. Bobbie was deeply involved with the families she assisted, celebrating their joys and sharing their tears when circumstances were difficult. Being a pastor’s wife plus having a full-time job meant that her days were filled, but Bobbie was nothing short of amazing in the way that she always had time for her family. After retirement, Bobbie became a full-time caregiver, extending her kindness to others.
Bobbies’ interests included fishing, which she talked about all year round. With wonderful creativity, she was known for her beautiful artwork of drawing and coloring. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. Bobbie was known to them and almost everyone she met as “Granny”.
She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine Mize of the home; granddaughters, Kristi McNamara (Matt), Heidi McIntosh (Patrick) and Heather Mize; and great-grandchildren, Phoebe McNamara, Peyton Hutchins, Bryson Mize, Lynlee Lee, Aiden McIntosh, Phaith McNamara and Mason McIntosh. She is also survived by her long-time caregiver, Lisa DeHart
In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband Jimmie Mize; 11 siblings; and son, Christopher Mize.
