Blake Edward Lewis, 59, of Gloucester, passed away Friday, May 3, 2019, at his home.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Vergie Mae Cemetery on Harkers Island, officiated by Pastor Manley Rose, Jr.
Blake was born and raised in the Down East Community of North Carolina. At a young age, he started his lifetime career in commercial fishing. He enjoyed his work and being on the water. Most recently, he worked in the North Atlantic on the Jean Marie which is based out of Broad Creek. When not on the water, he loved being with his family, especially his grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Tina Scott Lewis of the home; daughters, Laken Lewis Wheatly and husband David Jr. “Bubba” of Otway and Samantha Lewis of the home; mother, Sadie Mae Lewis of Otway; 2 sisters; 4 brothers; and grandsons, Gage Wheatly and Adler Wheatly.
He was preceded in death by his father, James “Danny Boy” Lewis; brother, Carson Lewis, Sr.; and nephew, Carson Lewis, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Blake’s memory to the North Carolina Fisheries Association at P.O. Box 86, Morehead City, NC 28557.
