Billy Mack Edwards

Billy Mack Edwards, 70, of Bogue, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service to honor Billy’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2024, at Emerald Isle Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Freddie Braswell. Billy will be laid to rest privately at Gethsemane Memorial Park. For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through his obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website. The service will remain on the Funeral Home website for 90 days.

Billy was born on October 3, 1953, in Grifton, North Carolina, to the late John and Maxine Edwards. Billy was a man of unwavering dedication and compassion.

Billy was a devoted family man, known for his unwavering love as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his selflessness.  Professionally, Billy worked in the glass business for over 20 years. Beginning as an employee and worked his way to owning his own Glass Business. Following retirement, he worked as a bookkeeper in the insurance industry. Known for his impeccable attention to detail and strong work ethic, he gained the respect and admiration of his colleagues throughout his career. Billy's dedication to his craft was a testament to his commitment and determination.

Throughout his life, he demonstrated immense love for animals, filling his home with their companionship and joy. His gentle spirit and deep respect for nature led him to appreciate the serenity of the beach, where he found solace and seclusion from the demands of everyday life.

Outside of work, Billy had a passion for sports, particularly as a devoted fan of the UNC Tarheels. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite team during basketball games, always adding excitement and energy to the atmosphere.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Bill Edwards (Rhonda) of Cape Carteret, NC, Eric Edwards (Deborah) of Bogue, NC, and Shane Edwards (Shelly) of Minnesota; grandchildren, Courtney, Ryan, Gunner, Carlee, Mercedes, Harvey, Victoria, Zhetry, Daniel, Emma; and great-grandchildren, Adrian, Emersyn, Lydia, Gabby, Kainan, Cheske, Oliver, Harrison, Paityn.

In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Sherry Edwards who passed away in August of 2022; and brother, Kenny Edwards who passed away in 2011.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Carteret County Humane Society.
