Billie Jean Carden Wood, 83, of Morehead City, was called to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on May 30, 2010. With family by her side, she quietly slipped into the arms of our Lord.
Billie Wood was known for her love of fishing, playing the accordion, country music, cooking and her keen sense of humor. She was devoted to her family and was a blessing to all who knew her. She managed the Atlantic Beach Branch of First Citizens Bank for over 17 years before retiring to care for her late husband.
Services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Bogue Banks Baptist Church with Pastor Stephen Bath officiating. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Park.
She is survived by her daughters, Jo W. Harrell, Lisa Wood and and Sarah W. Benbow and husband Steve; her beloved grandchildren, Arlen Harrell and wife Darla Willis Harrell, Anna Harrell, Daisy Benbow Powers and husband Ryan of Norman, OK and Claire Benbow of Nashville, TN. Billie was blessed with four great grandchildren, Rose, Xavier and Zeke Powers and Maggie Harrell. Also surviving are her brothers, Jack Carden and wife Michie of Tucson, AZ and David Carden and wife Bettye Jean of Hatteras, NC; niece, Sue Cox and nephews, Russ Carden and "Boog" Nash.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Clyde Wood, her parents, Naomi and Bryant Carden and a sister, Dorothy Lewey.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Thursday at Munden Funeral Home.
