Betty Jo Donnelly

December 18, 1962 — July 14, 2021

Morehead City

Betty Jo Donnelly, 58, of Morehead City, passed away quietly in her home on Wednesday, July 14, 2021.

Betty Jo was born on December 18, 1962, in Bluefield, West Virginia. Following her studies at Craven Community College and East Carolina University, she became a Critical Care Nurse, working over a decade in this field. Betty Jo’s kindness extended to everyone she met and her attention to detail was unmatched. It was those qualities that earned her the Clappsadl State of North Carolina’s Top 100 Nurses in 2007.

Some of her favorite pastimes included water sports, surfing and especially jet skiing. Spending time in her yard, gardening and bird watching were also relaxing activities that she delighted in. In her earlier years, she loved to cook and always enjoyed making special meals for her loved ones. Betty Jo’s family meant the world to her, and she valued each of those relationships.

She is survived by husband, Jim Donnelly of the home; step-son, William Jamie Donnelly and wife Saara of Amsterdam, Netherlands; sisters, Nancy Jackson, Carolyn Tabor, and Mary Ann Baldwin (Paul Graham), all of Morehead City; sister-in-law, Cathern Donnelly Fatigati of Poolesville, MD; brother-in-law, Michael Donnelly of Atlantic Beach; step-grandchildren, Ville Donnelly, Elias Donnelly; nieces, Jamie Gonzalez (Ben) of Chesapeake, VA, Brandi Stanley (David) of Denham Springs, LA, Monica Baldwin (Josh Stultz) of Bluefield, WV and Erin Lovern of New Bern; nephews, Ryan Graham of Cape Carteret and Patrick Tabor (Ria) of Okinawa, Japan; and furry friend, EJ, who was a constant companion.

Those preceding her in death are her mother, Edith Kimberlin and husband Harry; father, Dyer Baldwin; brother, James D. Baldwin; and brother-in-law, Tim Jackson.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 24th, at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Jack Mumford.  For those unable to attend, the service can be viewed through her obituary page on Munden Funeral Home’s website.
