Betty (Stanley) Willis

June 3, 1936 — November 13, 2013

Betty Stanley Willis, 77, died Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Carolina Rivers Nursing Home in Jacksonville, after a valiant struggle with dementia.

Betty was the daughter of George Goley and Nova Milliken Stanley of Southport.   She was a 1954 graduate of Southport High School and a 1957 graduate of Watts Hospital School of Nursing in Durham, NC.    After nursing in various capacities in eastern North Carolina, she retired from Onslow County Health Department.

She is survived by a son, David Sean Willis, of Red Springs, NC; a daughter, Melanie Carol Willis and son-in-law Arturo Perez-Canto of Clayton, NC; a brother, George Goley Stanley, Jr. (Nancy) of Laurel, MS; a brother, Thomas Leroy Stanley, Sr. (April) of Houston, TX; many beloved nieces and nephews; and devoted caregiver and friend, Betty Martin of the home.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Julian Francis Willis of Jacksonville; a sister, Carol Stanley Willis of Southport, and a brother, Glenn Elwin Stanley of Jacksonville, FL.

Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, November 23, 2013 at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Manley B. Rose, Jr., officiating.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
