Betty Hollowell

Betty M. Hollowell, 102, of Atlantic Beach, went to be with the Lord Monday, May 24, 2010.
Mrs. Hollowell was an active member of Bogue Banks Baptist Church in Atlantic Beach. She served her country in the United States Marine Corp (1942-1945), later marrying and raising a family in Plymouth, NC; She owned and operated Hollowell's Motel on Atlantic Beach for over 50 years. She will be remembered for her enjoyment of the Senior Citizens Celebrations, receiving her GED at the age of 92, and her love of traveling the world over.
Her memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Bogue Banks Baptist Church with Rev. Stephen Bath officiating.
She is survived by one son, Russell Eugene and wife Doris of Atlantic Beach, one daughter, Jolene McCann and husband Jack of Morehead City; one daughter-in-law, Lynn Hollowell of Morehead City; nine grandchildren, many great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews, one of Morehead City, Sandy Sneesby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Livingston Hollowell and a son, Ray Hollowell.
The family will receive friends following the service.
